Allison and I were mentored countless days and nights around a table while eating, playing games, ect. It’s not about the food or games, but more about the fellowship and relationships that are formed around the table. In the Bible, the disciples have one last meal with Jesus around the table in the upper room. In that room, Jesus fed the one who betrayed him; He loved the one who denied him; He put his 12 disciples first. We want to mentor our youth to be like Christ and provide a space that invites building friendships and having fun!
‘Your circle matters.’ This is a phrase RJ and Allison Sears tell the youth quite often. Who you surround yourself with, build connections with, and invite to your inner circle matters! The Upper Room was established to invite our youth and their friends to come together for spontaneous activities and spend quality time with one another. In a world that is constantly going against the grain of Biblical Christianity, it’s important now, more than ever, to encourage our youth live out 1 Timothy 4:12. The Upper Room lets our youth know they’re not alone in this commission!
