About Memorial

WELCOME TO

Memorial Baptist Church

Brief History

March 29, 1959, was the birth of the Memorial Baptist Church located in a storefront at 729 W. Memorial Drive.
Rev. H.E. Phipps stood as moderator of the proceedings, Rev. Pete Powell was the presbytery clerk and Rev. Ross Dobbs was elected the first Pastor for Memorial.
In 1964, Memorial purchased a lot and constructed a new church building located on Phillip Drive. The first service in this new building was on Easter Sunday, March 29, 1964.
The church is now under-shepherd by Ross’s great-grandson Pastor Chris Black. The Lord has abundantly blessed Memorial throughout the years.

Articles of Faith

  1. We believe in one true and living God, that there is a Trinity of persons in the Godhead, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, and yet there is but one God.
  2. We believe that the scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the Word of God, and the only authoritative rule of faith and practice.
  3. We Believe in the fall of Adam, and the Imputation …

Church Covenant

Having been lead, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk …
