An Introduction to Galatians

This letter was written to address the controversy within the Galatian churches regarding the requirement of Jewish law for Gentile converts. It is also seen as a defense of Paul’s apostolic authority and a teaching on justification by faith alone, not by works of the law.

Last Sunday evening we were watching the movie The Greatest Story Ever Told since it was Easter and we had never seen the movie before. As a person who has taught Sunday school for years and been a preacher for over 20 years, I can’t help but notice the things that don’t line up with the scriptures. I’m not trying to be critical, I enjoyed the movie but there was something that got my attention. It was the relationship between Herod and John the Baptist.

Review: Last week we covered chapters 8 and 9 of which Solomon speaks in parables about different things he has observed in life. He makes comments on wisdom, authority, how the righteous and wicked in life seemingly get the opposite of what we think they deserve, the sovereignty of God, and the day of death.
