To preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, making disciples to advance the Kingdom of God

Song of Solomon Session 4 – Pastor Chris Black

Last we week we went through chapter 3, where the Shulamite recalls a dream she had about her shepherd that prompted her to go look for him in the night. When she finds her beloved, she embraces him and brings him to her mother’s house to meet her family. Solomon then returns to Jerusalem in a great royal parade and astonishes the crowd that is blown away by his majesty.
The beloved Shepherd has followed the court and comes to Jerusalem because the Shulamite is still somewhat captive in Solomon’s pavilions. They speak briefly to each other in this passage.

The Song of Solomon Session 3 – Pastor Chris Black

The Song of Solomon is a love poem about a Shulamite farm girl that Solomon has set his sights on winning her affection; but she’s already in love with a shepherd. Solomon is the king of Israel, already married and extremely wealthy. The Shulamite is a common yet beautiful woman who works on her family’s farm. The shepherd is mysterious in that he just appears at times in the poem, yet the Shulamite describes in him in the highest esteem, and she proclaims her great love for him. He also speaks of the Shulamite in glowing and romantic descriptions.

What it is: The Bible is broken down into different categories – the law, the prophets, the gospels, the epistles, historical, and wisdom. The song of Solomon is biblical love poetry that falls into the category of wisdom literature because

Ephesians Session 6 – Pastor Chris Black

Last week we went through chapter 5 where we learned we’re supposed to imitate the heavenly Father like children by walking in love. We were admonished not to take part in fornication, uncleanness, covetousness, corrupt and filthy speech. Instead, we were told to be filled with the Spirit through spiritual singing, giving thanks, and being submissive to proper authorities. He then begins the commands for the Christian family starting with the marriage relationship.

Ephesians Session 5 – Pastor Chris Black

Last week we went through chapter 4 which dealt with how we should walk as new creatures in Christ, the ground upon which Christian unity is built (the 7 ones), the gifting of offices for the maturing of the saints and to prepare them for ministry, then commands on putting off the old man and putting on Christ. This is done through renewing the mind.
