To preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, making disciples to advance the Kingdom of God

Telling The Truth – Pastor Chris Black

The LORD told Ezekiel that He had made him a watchman unto the house of Israel. A watchman was stationed on the wall of a city, and his job was to be on constant lookout for danger and to warn the inhabitants of the city when danger was approaching.
Ezekiel’s ministry was to tell the truth given to him by God for the correction of His people. God said that the warning the wicked with the truth had the ability to save their lives if they would turn from their iniquity. It also had the power to keep the righteous from turning to iniquity. Then God laid a heavy responsibility on Ezekiel. He said if he failed to warn the people and they died, that he was responsible for their blood.

Ephesians Session 2 – Chapter 2 – Pastor Chris Black

Last time we went through our first chapter of which Paul spoke about salvation in eternity before the world was. He told us that we were chosen in Christ and predestinated unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to God Himself. He spoke about the purpose of God which is, at the end of all dispensations of time, He will gather everything that is redeemed by Chirst and unite it all in glory to Him.

Ephesians Session 1 – Chapter 1 – Pastor Chris Black

Ephesus was a large, prosperous, and bustling port city in the Roman province of Asia Minor. At that time, there were approximately 350,000 people living there. Ephesus rivaled Corinth for its depravity due to the worship of Artemis (Diana). The temple of Artemis was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Paul spent nearly three years there, the longest he stayed in any single city to establish a church. He encountered significant opposition as people were being saved and turning from idol worship because it affected the livelihood of the silversmiths. At one point, a riot broke out that caught the attention of the whole city.

The Power and Purpose of Fasting – Pastor Chris Black

Fasting is not about earning God’s favor or trying to manipulate Him in some fashion, but it’s the way to two things the Lord has commanded in scripture – James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Humbling ourselves and seeking Him with all our heart.

2 Thessalonians Session 3 – Pastor Chris Black

Last time we went through the second chapter which was concerning the day of the Lord. These people were upset due to a forged letter allegedly from Paul that led them to believe they had missed the rapture and were amid the tribulation. Paul addresses this
by reminding them of the things he told them when he was there the first time. He points out that three things must occur before Christ is revealed to the world…1. A falling away must come first 2. The Antichrist must be revealed in his time 3. The Holy Spirit must stop
restraining iniquity and the spirit world altogether. He wrote of God sending strong delusion so that those that have heard the gospel and rejected it will believe a lie and be damned!

Helping Others See Jesus – Pastor Chris Black

In the text we just read, we see a man of reputation and position, trying to see Jesus as he is passing through Jericho…but he can’t because he is disadvantaged. Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. He was despised by his own people because he worked for Rome, and he took advantage of his own countrymen by stealing off them while collecting taxes for the empire. The fact that he was called “chief among the publicans” means that he had climbed the ladder and had people working under him. The Bible records that he sought to see Jesus who he was…I’m led to believe that something was working on Zacchaeus, possibly his conscience was troubling him about how he made a living, or the deceitfulness and covetousness of his heart was bothering him. Here’s why I’m led to believe that because when Jesus approached him, he didn’t preach a message or point out his sin…he simply told him to come down because he was going home with him.
